Many aspects of our daily lives have been and are continuing to evolve. Food safety, renewable energy and sustainability to name a few. Decades of poor judgment have resulted in the instability of our food resources, over consumption of fossil fuels and over zealous harvest of some of our wild food resources. Recent shifts in our awareness have prompted the beginnings of change. Fresh Local Wild is a part of this change.
By choosing to manage our procurement and operating systems and tuning in to the current needs of the times Fresh Local Wild has created a mandate and solutions to some of these issues.
Where does your food come from? While sourcing of local products (wild and other) 365 days a year can be difficult we recognize the need to try. Where available, our products are sourced from local Fishermen, ethical farms and sustainable wild harvest of seasonal bounty. As the seasons change so too will the food. We have made this commitment and now you, the dining public, must also move for change. You demand it… we will deliver!
As a mobile restaurant we must bring everything with us and take everything away and our goal is to leave no trace. To accomplish this Fresh Local Wild has created an industry first carbon negative mobile restaurant business. With no city allocated power resource mobile food vendors are required to generate their own power. This is typically accomplished with the use of a gasoline generator but… there is another way. By converting a high efficiency diesel generator to operate using 100% VEG oil (SVO) Fresh Local Wild is able to power the electrical components of the restaurant using waste biomass thus offsetting the consumption of propane for cooking.
With another first Fresh Local Wild has launched the only mobile dining patio. Finished in beautifully stained western red cedar and complete with music this is the smallest restaurant in Vancouver and four of the hottest seats.
